How to Order a Custom 3D Print Without a Design File
Learn what to send ChimpForge when you have a custom 3D printing idea but no ready-made CAD or 3D design file.

Start with the problem, not a perfect drawing
You do not need specialist software to start a ChimpForge quote. A clear description of what the item should do, where it will be used, and what must fit around it is more useful than guessing at technical details.
A rough sketch, marked-up photograph, link to a similar product, or a few measurements can give enough context for an initial review.
Details that make a quote easier
Share the approximate size, quantity, colour preference, intended use, and any deadline. If the item needs to fit another object, measure the relevant width, height, depth, and fixing points rather than only the overall object.
- What the print needs to do
- Approximate dimensions and quantity
- Photos or sketches showing the surrounding space
- Preferred colours and any important visual details
- When you need it and whether the timing is flexible
What happens after you submit
ChimpForge reviews the brief before confirming whether the request is suitable to quote. The quote form is intentionally lightweight, so you can begin with what you know and add clarification if it is needed.
